Expedite Completion Of Widening Of Roads In Kathmandu

June 20, 2013: at the meeting of the high-level road expansion monitoring committee, Chairman of Interim Election Council of Ministers Khil Raj Regmi issued directives to expedite the ongoing road widening campaign in the Kathmandu Valley. Chairman Regmi directed the officials to complete maximum work this month. “Make efforts to complete as much work as possible in Asar (mid-June to mid-July) coordinating with telephone, electricity and drinking water authorities by respecting the existing legal provisions and without any selfish interests,” he said, according to the news on ‘gorkhapatraonline.com. He also instructed the concerned officials to monitor the work done by the contractors, and to provide the owners of the demolished houses for expansion of the roads with compensations immediately.

 

Secretary to the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, and also the coordinator of the road expansion committee in Kathmandu Krishna Hari Baskota said that the meeting decided to gravel the road as soon as possible as there was difficulty in movement of traffic and humans due to rains. The roads have turned muddy and the movement of traffic has become difficult, he said. “The meeting decided to gravel the roads immediately and clear the roads debris.”
