Army Men Among The Protestors

Issue 19, May 9, 2010

By KTM Metro Reporter in Kathmandu

May 3, 2010: spokesman for the UCPN-Maoist has said that the UCPN-Maoist cadres have captured two army men sneaked into the protesting group for spying, and made them public through the media and turned them over to the Nepal Police on May 2, 2010.

In response to the capture of the army men by the UCPN-Maoist cadres, the Nepal Army has said that the two army men were in their private business and one was going to the Teaching Hospital for treatment, and warned the Maoist cadres of the Nepal Army not tolerating such things in the future.

The Nepal Army has the Army Hospital at Chhauni in Kathmandu for treating army men and women but why one of them needed to go to the Teaching Hospital when the army has its own hospital, that also during such a protest time. Why should another army man be among the protestors? Does it not go against the rules and regulations of the Nepal Army?

The Nepal Army personnel have been very smart to harass the innocent civilians and when something seriously goes wrong then they label the innocent people as the terrorists for escaping from the criminal acts in the past. For example, the recent case of the three innocent women killed by the Army men in the Bardiya national park and then labeling them as the poachers, and telling the public that they were killed in the shootouts.
