Diarrhea Epidemic

Issue 31, August 2, 2009

By KTM Metro Reporter in Kathmandu

On July 28, 2009, addressing the parliament, Prime Minister Madhav Nepal has said that his government has prepared a package program on bringing the diarrhea under control in the Jarjarkot and Rukum districts, and has been using all possible state mechanism to combat the diarrhea epidemic.

However, the state-run newspaper ‘Gorkhapatra’ of July 30, 2009 has the news of diarrhea spreading in other districts, too, and a number of people dying from this disease have increased recently. The diarrhea epidemic has spread in Dailekh and Baitadi districts, too, according to the ‘Gorkhapatra’ news.

Some Nepalis have said that it is shame on the government of Prime Minister Madhav Nepal that it could not stop even such a simple disease diarrhea from spreading in other districts even in the 21st century.
