Prime Minister’s Childish Call on Maoists
By KTM Metro Reporter in Kathmandu
On November 8, 2009, Prime Minister Madhav Nepal has made his routine call on the Maoists to join his government. By now nobody even his son will not believe him that the Maoists will join his government. His government is no doubt the majority government but not the government Nepalis have wanted. Nepalis have given the mandate to form a national government of all political parties but some unscrupulous politicians very smart in the past and even now to form a majority government buying some unprincipled legislators have form a majority government.
The international community knows that the Nepalese political problems will not be resolved without a national government of all parties and with the consensus politics. So, the international community has been calling on all political parties to work on the consensus politics and form a national government of all political parties rather than a majority government in the current political context in Nepal. However, the current government is going head-on confrontation with the international community and wants to stick to the majority government and do the majority wants to do when the need is for the consensus politics for writing a new constitution and for completing the peace process.
So, the government has asked the UN for the explanations for the UN Secretary General’s report on Nepal submitted to the Security Council recently. Former Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala had charged former UNMIN Chief Ian Martin with being bias toward the Maoists for his sincere statements. Now Prime Minister Madhav Nepal has been talking about the UN Secretary General being biased against his government.
