Diarrhea in Remote Areas

Issue 29, July 19, 2009

By KTM Metro Reporter in Kathmandu

According to the news released by the state media, ten thousands kilo of various prescription drugs and some medics have sent to the remote areas of western Nepal where diarrhea has killed so many people recently. However, some people continue to die from the disease that has continued to spread out in other villages, too, according to the local people.

Some media have reported that thousands of kilos of prescription drugs have been lying at the Nepalgunj airport private contractors being unable to transport them to the remote areas.

Prime Minister Madhav Nepal had called the Health Minister and other officials over to his office and asked them to control the disease as soon as possible. However, nothing is moving fast as required by the spread of the disease.

The state officials have said that no matter what they do the diarrhea will not be controlled until the monsoon rains set in there.
