Questionable Competency Of Nepalese Political Leaders
By KTM Metro Reporter
August 5, 2011: in a meeting with the US Ambassador to Nepal Scott H. DeLisi yesterday, NC President Sushil Koirala has called for American support for completing the peace process; Ambassador DeLisi has told the media that America has been ready to support the mission of peace and statue, ‘The Rising Nepal’ of today writes. Obviously, President Koirala has no guts to complete the peace process; so he has gone seeking the foreign support for completing the peace process.
At the same time, Prime Minister Jhalanath Khanal has been desperate to quit the office, as he could not manage both the peace process and the constitution writing. He has set the deadline for August 13, 2011 to hang himself if other political parties don’t follow his road map to the peace process and the constitution. Whether it is a ploy or something else remains to be seen. Fortunately, he did not go to any of the foreign missions in Kathmandu and desperately asked for the support for his road map to the peace process and the constitution writing.
There remains Chairman of UCPN-Maoist Prachanda that has not opted to hang himself for not being able to complete the peace process and the constitution writing and to seek outsiders’ support for these two jobs but he has sent a number of scapegoats to the cabinet of Jhalanath Khanal to sacrifice for his mission. These ministers similar to the cattle going to a slaughterhouse have gone willingly to the cabinet of Jhalanath Khanal to be slaughtered on August 13, 2011. The date chosen by Khanal seems to be the most auspicious one.
Chairman Prachanda blames the regressive forces in the NC and CPN-UML for not completing the peace process and the constitution writing whereas other party leaders blame him and his party leaders for the same. Most probably, the regressive forces in his party must have been obstructing the completion of these two major jobs to be completed.
Obviously, Chairman Prachanda has downgraded himself not pushing his party men sufficiently to the completion of the peace process and the constitution writing. He has lost his capability to lead his party men because the regressive forces represented by both Dr. Baburam Bhattarai and Mohan Vaidya ‘Kiran’ have pushed him to the corner obstructing his active forward-looking mission to complete the peace process and the constitution writing. If Prachanda gives in to the dictates of both Bhattarai and Kiran, the peace process and the constitution writing will never be completed. It will be suicidal to Prachanda and his party, too.
