Disunity In NC Surfaced Again
By KTM metro Reporter

December 12, 2010: disagreement between the party President Sushil Koirala and Senior Leader Sher Bahadur Deuba on nominating the vice-president and the general secretary by the president has clearly indicated the vertical cleavage in the NC.

Speaking at an interaction held by the ‘Democratic Thought Society’ in Kathmandu on December 11, 2010, President of NC Sushil Koirala has said that he is ready to quit the party instead of compromising on its rules and regulations and giving in to the pressure of others going against the party norms, ‘The Rising Nepal’ of December 12, 2010 writes.

Mr. Koirala has not said what does compromising on the party rules and regulations means but the rejection of his nominations to the vice-president and general secretary has been the controversy in his party. If he means his actions taken as the president are the rules and regulations then it might be the democratic norms for him but for others it will be his dictatorship.

Mr. Koirala needs to understand that compromise is one of the charms of democracy. If he is not prepared to compromise with other party leaders on his actions how can he claim to be a democrat?

At the same time in the meeting held at Budhanilkantha residence, Senior Leader Sher Bahadur Deuba and members of his party line have decided to go ahead with the consensus on the decision-makings and the party unity in other words compromises on the decisions made by party President Sushil Koirala.
