Assault On Chief Justice Of Supreme Court Of Nepal

April 23, 2010: students of Nepal Students’ Union (NSU) affiliated to the Nepali Congress (NC) protesting against the arrest of their leader Bishnu Poudel on the charge of an attempted murder, have pelted stones on the motorcade of Chief Justice Ram Prasad Shrestha at Putalisadak in Kathmandu on Thursday, April 22, 2010. The Chief Justice did not suffer any injuries.

The police have arrested Vice-president of Free Students’ Union Bishnu Poudel on his alleged involvement in an assault on the students of All Nepal National Free Students’ Union (ANNFSU) including its President Samik Badal at Tri-Chandra Campus on April 12, 2010. After the arrest of Bishnu Poudel, NSU students have launched protest against it at various campuses in Kathmandu. NSU students have denied their involvement in the assault on other students at the Tri-Chandra Campus.
