Deputy Prime Minister Sujata Koirala For Alternative Government

On January 30, 2010, speaking at a function in Butwal, Deputy Prime Minister with the Portfolio of Foreign Affairs Sujata Koirala has said that the current government headed by the Communist Party of Nepal-Unified Marxist and Leninist (CPN-UML) has been attempting on capturing the state power as the Maoists have done in the past appointing its cadres to the positions at various state agencies; Ministers belonging to the CPN-UML have been posing as the leaders of their party in the cabinet meetings; while attending the cabinet meeting, she has been feeling as if she is in the politburo meeting of the CPN-UML; if the CPN-UML does not correct this trend then an alternative to this current government has to be sought. Sujata Koirala is the daughter of NC President Girija Prasad Koirala, and leader of the NC.
At the same time, Minister for Irrigation Balkrishna Khand also of the NC has said that there is no alternative to the current government; however, the leaders of the UCPN-Maoist have been trying to form a new government under the NC.
Youth leader of the NC Gagan Thapa has said that the NC should form a new government under its leadership or to recall the current ministers representing the NC and send senior leaders instead, as they have not been able to perform their duties as required.
