Asking More Development Funds From The World Bank

October 17, 2013: speaking to the reporters at the International Airport in Kathmandu upon his return from Washington DC on Tuesday after attending the annual meetings of the World Bank, Finance Minister Shankar Prasad Koirala has called for additional funds from the World Bank to support the development of infrastructure, energy and tourism in Nepal, as Nepal needs the additional support in these sectors to reduce poverty in the country, according to the news posted on the gorkhapatraonline.com’.

 

“Development of these sectors will help create employment and reduce poverty. I told the WB officials about this and requested them to provide us additional support," Finance Minister Koirala told the reporters.

 

Speaking at the WB headquarters, Finance Minister Koirala asked the donor to provide Nepal with more assistance to spur economic and social development activities. Finance Minister Koirala said he apprised the WB officials that the additional assistance to Nepal would go a long way in upgrading Nepal from a least developed country to the status of a ´developing country´ by 2022 AD.
