Luring NC To Join Current Government
By KTM Metro Reporter
March 21, 2011: without the four major political parties such as UCPN-Maoist, NC, CPN-UML and Madheshi political parties working together, Nepal cannot make a new constitution and institutionalize the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal. However, the current coalition government of UCPN-Maoist and CPN-UML has been luring the NC ignoring the Madheshi political parties. Consequently, some of the Madheshi political leaders such as Mahanta Thakur, Bijya Gacchedar and so on have recently gone to India to have a tutorial in politics from the Indian leaders.
Nepalese politicians need to go to political schools in India rather than taking tutorial from the Indian leaders some of them have a high record of corruption and criminal background, as a half of the representatives in the lower house have been facing the criminal charges and some of them have the background of killing. The recent newspapers reports have revealed that the link of the corruption and abuse of authority is from the grassroots to the highest political and administrative levels in India.
Talking to the reporters at the Dhangadi Airport on March 19, 2011, Vice-chairman of UCPN-Maoist Dr. Baburam Bhattarai has said that the current government has not taken a full shape because of an attempt on bringing the NC on board according to ‘The Rising Nepal’ of March 20, 2011. He has also said that his party is in favor of forming a national unity government for the last two years.
In Lekhnath Kaski, spokesperson for UCPN-Maoist Dinanath Sharma has said on Saturday, March 19, 2011 that his party would continue its support for the current government even if Prime Minister Jhalanath Khanal does not comply with the seven-point agreement. He has also said that his party is willing to give the portfolio of home ministry to NC if it joins the government.
Speaking to the reporters, former Prime Minister Madhav Nepal has said that leaders of UCPN-Maoist and CPN-UML have agreed on another deal based on the seven-point agreement to meet the needs of NC for joining the current government. However, the NC leaders have been demanding the end of the seven-point deal the Chairmen of UCPN-Maoist and CPN-UML have reached on February 3, 2011.
Vice-chairman of UCPN-Maoist Narayan Kaji Shrestha has said that if the NC joins the current government, his party is ready to think again about the seven-point deal even though the demand the NC has put forward for scrapping it is not logical, the seven-point deal is for completing the peace process and the constitution writing, ‘The Rising Nepal’ of today writes.
