Issue 41, October 10, 2010

By KTM Metro Reporter

October 5, 2010: members of the Constituent Assembly have agreed on forwarding the thematic reports prepared by various committees to the Constitutional Committee (CC) for the final draft of a new constitution; if they cannot build consensus on various contentious issues they agree on the majority votes on those issues and then forward the committee reports to the CC; the Constituent Assembly needs to pass all the reports submitted by various committees before sending those reports to the CC; Chairman of the Constituent Assembly has said that the discussions on the contentious issues of the eight thematic committees have started on Monday and it would continue on Tuesday, ‘The Rising Nepal’ of October 04, 2010 reports.

However, myrepublica.com has the news that the Chairman of the Constituent Assembly has been frustrated by the lack of interest shown by the political leaders in completing the writing of a new constitution, as they have failed in attending the meeting called by him for resolving the contentious issues.
