Poverty Alleviation Fund Gets 80 Million US Dollars From WB

May 27, 2013: speaking at an interaction event held in Kathmandu yesterday, Vice-chairman of the Poverty Alleviation Fund (PAF) Yubraj Pandey has said that the World Bank (WB) is providing PAF with 80 million US dollars in grant for the upcoming four-year programs, according to ‘gorkhapatraonline.com news of today.
So far, the WB has provided 115 million US dollars in grant while the IFAD has provided four million in grant to the PAF. The PAF has been working in 59 different districts across the country. Of the total budget of the PAF, community organizations for the poor mobilize nearly 80 percent.
The PAF is expanding its programs in 15 more districts by this fiscal year and the selection process of the partner organizations is underway, the PAF said. Meanwhile, the PAF has set up a Poverty Alleviation Fund Journalism Award to honor the outstanding news and features stories related to the poverty alleviation, according to ‘gorkhapatraonline.com news of today.
