A Task Force On Forming A Consensus Government

Issue 50, December 11, 2011

By KTM Metro Reporter

December 5, 2011: leaders of the four political forces such as UCPN-Maoist, NC, CPN-UML and UDMF held a meeting at the Gokarna Resort in Kathmandu to review the seven-point deal and six-point deal and to discuss the constitution writing and the forming of a national consensus government. They have agreed on setting up a task force comprising top leaders such as Prachanda of UCPN-Maoist, Sushil Koirala of NC, Jhalanath Khanal of CPN-UML and Bijaya Gacchadar of UDMF on forming a national consensus government, ‘gorkhapatra’ of today writes.

These top leaders have also agreed on appointing Dr. Madan Pariyar as the representatives of the dalit to the State Restructuring Commission. Dalits: historically under privileged people have complained that the State Restructuring Commission has no representation of theirs.

The leaders have also agreed on suspending the ‘Youth Self-employment Program’. There have been widespread complaints that the program has been mismanaged and money has been given to the political cadres as handouts. Current Prime Minister Dr. Baburam Bhattarai had set it up when he was a Finance Minister of the government led by Prachanda in 2008.

All the political leaders have also agreed on evacuating the slum dwellers from the Bank of the Bagamati River. Slum dwellers have been encroaching on the bank of the Bagmati River polluting it heavily. So, the organization responsible for maintaining the clean environment of the Bagmati River has been complaining about the unauthorized slum dwellers.
