Three Trekkers died In Nepal Himalaya

October 25, 2012: Three foreign trekkers died at different places in the Mustang district on Thursday morning, October 25, 2012.
An Israeli national Cohen Cran, 25, fell off a wooden bridge over the Kaligandaki River at Jomsom VDC at around 7:00 AM. Immediately after he was swept away by the river, the Nepal Police went to rescue him but were not successful. The police found him dead about three kilometers down stream at around 8:30 AM. The police are investigating how he fell off the bridge.
German trekker Elke Heinig 53 died of the altitude sickness. She was in a group of 13. She arrived at the Hidden Valley located at 5,100 meters (16,700 feet) for climbing the Dhaulagiri Peak when she developed altitude sickness. She was rushed down to the District Hospital Jomson after she complained of symptoms of the sickness, but doctors could not save her.
Austrian trekker Joseph John 62 was found dead in a tent where he had been sleeping apparently after suffering a heart attack in Ghara of Surkhang VDC of the Mustang district.
The body of the Israeli trekker is kept at the district hospital for postmortem; the body of the German trekker has been sent to Kathmandu on a helicopter after autopsy. It will be turned over to her family through the German Embassy in the Nepalese capital. Preparations are being made to airlift the body of the Australian trekker to Kathmandu, according to RSS/thehimalayantimes.com.
