Return Weapons To Government

April 24, 2013: the Ministry of Home Affairs on Monday, April 22, 2013 once again appealed to political leaders particularly the leaders of the CPN-Maoist-Vaidhya to return the weapons they have kept for their security to the government within May 14, 2013. The government has issued such appeal following the recommendation of the Army Integration Special Committee on April 3, 2013, according the ‘gorkhapatrra.com’ news of yesterday.

 

The Home Ministry in its notice stated, “If the weapons are not submitted to the government by the end of May 14, they will be automatically become illegal.” According to the notice posted on the official website of the Home Ministry, the Ministry also appealed to submit the weapons either to any nearest police offices or District Administration Offices.

 

The state provided a total of 94 arms for the security of the Maoist leaders following the Comprehensive Peace Accord (CPA). The Mohan Baidhya-led CPN-Maoist continued to have 32 weapons. During the security checks, the police had already seized seven weapons out of 32.

 

According to the notice of the Ministry of Home Affairs, the UCPN-Maoist claimed that it had already submitted the weapons to the government.
