Anniversary Of Lord Buddha

Issue 21, May 22, 2011

By KTM Metro Reporter

May 17, 2011: today Nepalis are celebrating the anniversary of the triple events such as birth of Buddha, his enlightenment and finally his parinirvana coinciding on the full moon day of Vaishak.

Nepalese president Dr. Ram Baran Yadav has participated in the religious event held in Lumbini: the birthplace of Lord Buddha in Nepal. Prime Minister is also taking part in the celebration of the anniversary of Lord Buddha in Kathmandu.

Today in the morning the Radio Nepal has aired the special program on the Buddha in which unfortunately the so-called professor has made comparison between Buddhism and Hinduism, and even has said Buddhism and Hinduism are siblings.

The so-called professor needs to understand that Buddha had not taught any ‘ism’ rather the method of good living without troubling anybody. One of the main themes Buddha had taught is that nobody can escape from the results of her/his deeds. The results follow immediately the deeds. So, Buddha said, “think before doing anything whether you are doing right or wrong. If you do wrong things you will get bad results; if you do good things you get good results. You cannot get rid of the results of bad deeds performing religious acts and asking any god for forgiveness, as any god cannot relieve you of the results of bad deeds.”

For example, IMF Chief Dominique Strauss-Kahn received the results of his misbehavior to a hotel maid immediately on Saturday, May 14, 2011. The New York Police has handcuffed him and kept under custody until filling a case against him of the sexual assault on the maid.

If anybody can disseminate this message to all the people and make efforts on taking it deep in the minds of the people; probably some of the evils from the minds of the people engaged in destroying others will go off and will not believe in getting the seats next to the lord by killing others.
