Raining In The Kathmandu Valley

Issue 06, February 20, 2013

By KTM Metro Reporter

February 5, 2013: today, the Kathmandu Valley has been under rain since 7: 00 am. Sun made a quick show up in the afternoon only to go behind the clouds that caused drizzle again.

The Kathmandu Valley has remained wet the whole day today. We did not dare to go out as the cold wind combined with the drizzling might make us sick.

Some school children went to schools with umbrellas. Most of the children are freezing at schools, as none of the schools have any heating system to keep the school children warm.

The drizzle has done nothing but the roads muddy, and walking became challenging. However, this rain might be blessing to the wheat and maize crops in the hills and valleys. This rain will make these two crops better.

The solar panels for heating water have remained without sun. So, we would not have warm water not to mention hot water tomorrow morning. The power supply has been only for a few hours in a day and a few more hours at night. So, we cannot think of using power either for heating home or water. We better remained wrapped in thick fleece blankets not to lose whatever heat we have in our bodies.
