2. Even though the shutdown called by the cadres of CPN-Maoist had put the businesses of Nepalese across the country at the halt, some media reported the shutdown had a little effect on the regular businesses of the common folks. The cadres burnt down eight vehicles in course of enforcing the shutdown. The CPN-Maoist had called the shutdown protesting against the feedback collections enforced by the government, and the recent agreement China and India had reached on using the trade route through the Lepu Lekh pass bypassing Nepal even though the Lepu Lekh is within the Nepalese territory.
3. China is seriously thinking to review the agreement reached with Indian on doing the business through the Lepu Lekh after the Nepalese ambassador to China Mahesh Maskey presented the historical evidences of the Lepu Lekh pass belonging to Nepal. Nepal has reminded concerned authorities in China that Lepu Lekh is on the border between Nepal, India and China and that it would not be appropriate to reach any agreement without the Nepal's participation. In the last 60 years of diplomatic relations, Chinese top leadership during each high level visit to Nepal had reiterated that China would fully respect Nepal's sovereignty and territorial integrity. Although Nepal does not harbor anti-China feelings, the agreement with India over Lepu Lekh has stoked such feelings, the news on myrepublica.com stated.
