Dr. Bhattarai has said that his visit has helped improve relations between Nepal and India to warm up the cold relations between India and UCPN-Maoist.
During his stay in India, Dr. Bhattarai has met with Indian Finance Minister Pranab Mukharjee, Foreign Minister SM Krishna, Home Minister P Chidambaram, National Security Adviser Shivshankar Menon, former Foreign Secretary Shyan Sharan, Bharatiya Janata Party leader Susma Sorad and the general secretary of the Communist Party of India Prakash Karat.
Talking to the reporters at the International Airport on his return from New Delhi, Dr. Bhattarai has said that his visit has been fruitful in knowing the India's position on the current political process in Nepal and explaining his party UCPN-Maoist’s views on India; India will not support a new government under the Maoist leadership in Nepal is baseless, nepalnews.com writes. Nepalnews.com quotes him, "Indian leaders were of the opinion that they have no role in resolving internal issues of Nepal, I am quite optimistic that India will not intervene nor play any role in supporting or opposing any party in leading the new government."
Indian leaders have not entertained leaders such as Sijata Koirala of NC and KP Oli of CPN-UML as much as they have done to Dr. Bhattarai. India indicates that the Maoists have been poised to take over the state power.
