Three More Days For Building A Consensus On Nepalese Government
By KTM Metro Reporter
August 22, 2011: at the request of the political leaders and on the recommendations of the prime minister, President Dr. Ram Baran Yadav has yesterday granted three more days for building a consensus on forming a new government, after the week of the deadline the president has set for yesterday has expired.
Chairman of UCPN-Maoist has said that the chance of building a consensus on forming a new government is slim because all political leaders have been parroting ‘consensus’ but practically doing nothing to this end.
Prachanda has sarcastically said that all political leaders have reached a consensus on extending the time for building a consensus on a new government.
Vice-chairman of UCPN-Maoist Dr. Baburam Bhattarai and senior NC leader Sher Bahadur Deuba are the candidates for a prime minister. Both the candidates have claimed the rights to lead a new government.
Some political analysts have said that senior NC leader Deuba had had the background of assisting the former king in taking the power dissolving the then parliament and the local governments. After reaching the 12-point agreement, seven political parties and the Maoists have forced the former king out of the palace and reinstated the parliament but they never reestablished the local governments.
Political analysts have opined that it would be a grave mistake if the lawmakers elect Deuba to the office of prime minister again. Mr. Deuba has been the symbol of the regressive forces. Why the NC leaders have given Deuba a chance of being a candidate for a prime minister, political analysts put a question.
