Prachanda’s Peaceful Transformation Timely
By KTM Metro Reporter
February 3, 2013: speaking at the opening session of the Seventh General Convention of his party yesterday, chairman of UCPN-Maoist Prachanda said that a softer capitalist democratic line was the only way to institutionalize achievements made by the UCPN-Maoist. “If we abandon the people’s agenda, we will no longer remain Maoists,” he said, adding that the party had reached this point due to the sacrifice of more than 10,000 people. Returning to people’s war and deserting the task of institutionalizing the party’s achievements would dishonor the martyrs, he said, according to HIMALAYAN NEWS SERVICE of today.
Chairman Prachanda said that the seventh general convention would come up with a formula to break the current political deadlock in the country. The opposition parties would have difficulty in rejecting the formula. He also called the opposition leaders to abandon the street protests and join the ruling coalition to complete the remaining task of institutionalizing the achievements made by the people’s movements.
Representatives of foreign communist parties attending the opening ceremony of the seventh general convention of UCPN-Maoist have appreciated the “peaceful transformation” Chairman Prachanda has proposed. Some representatives have even said that the timely transformation of communist parties also was required, as all communist parties throughout the world have abandoned Leninism and Maoism, according to THT ONLINE of today.
