Nepal Again In Darkness Due To Outage
By KTM Metro Reporter
December 5, 2011: the state-run newspaper ‘gorkhapatra’ has published a long notice of the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) stating the outage: three hours in the morning and three hours in the evening.
For the last several decades, none of new power plants have come to operation to add power to the central grid of Nepal rather some of the operating power plants have been in maintenance causing shortage of power during the winter season. As the winter season turns into the dray season, the power cut will be considerably high.
During the fifteen years of the governments run by the leaders of the NC, no power had added to the central grid building new power plants rather the ministers ran after the commissions causing mismanagement and corruption in the administration.
When the then Prime Minister Prachanda wanted to set up a 200 MW diesel plant, the so-called leaders of the CPN-UML had vehemently opposed it. The result is Nepalis have to live without power causing a tremendous loss to the business opportunities bringing economic loss to the country.
