Sale of Alcoholic Drinks in Nepal
By KTM Metro Reporter in Kathmandu
The Government of Nepal introduced new rules on the sale of alcoholic drinks in municipalities effective on November 18, 2008. According to the rules, only the licensed stores are authorized to sell alcoholic drinks to the adults of eighteen years and above from 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM; violators of these rules would be fined with ten thousands rupees and all the alcoholic drinks kept for sale would be seized each time the government monitors find them.
The alcoholic-drink selling stores are not authorized to sell other goods except for cigarettes and other tobacco products. Super markets need to assign separate stalls for selling alcoholic drinks and tobacco products.
