Patna High Court Sentences Maoist Cadres

September 14, 2011: on August 30, 2011 hearing on the cases filed against the Maoist cadres some seven years ago, the Patna High Court of Bihar Province of India had sentenced eleven Maoist cadres to the jail terms of from two to seven years and imposed fines of from Rupees three to seven hundred thousands.
Prime Minister Dr. Baburam Bhattarai invited the newly appointed ambassador to Nepal Mr. Jayant Prasad to his office at Singhadurbar, Yesterday and urged him to see whether the government of India could withdraw the cases or grant an amnesty to them.
Newly appointed Attorney General Mukti Naryan Pradhan was present at the meeting of the prime minister with the Indian envoy. The Attorney General has hinted the reporters that the Indian envoy has assured the prime minister of the Indian government taking appropriate actions.
