By KTM Metro Reporter in Kathmandu

On Sunday, September 6, 2009, Nepalese priests have continued the protest against the appointment of Indian priests at the Pashupati temple. The protesters have blocked the traffic at Gaushala and Chabahil area burning tires on the roads causing inconvenience to commuters. The police have taken some protestors into custody but released later on.

The police have also restricted the entry of devotees to the Pashupati temple causing inconvenience to the devotees coming to make offerings to Lord Pashupati. The police want to make sure that the manhandling of the Indian priests would not be repeated. The police have set up a security circle around the temple to keep the protestors away from the temple.

Coordinator of the Protest Movement against the appointment of the Indian priests at Pashupati Dr. Rishi Prasad Sharma has said that the protest would continue until the government annuls the appointment of the Indian priests at the Pashupati temple according to the state-run newspaper ‘Gorkhapatra’ of September 7, 2009.
