Filing A Corruption Case Against Lawmakers At Special Court

May 12, 2011: Speaker Subhas Newang has told the reporter of ‘The Rising Nepal’ that he is going to suspend two lawmakers such as B.P. Yadav of Madheshi People’s Rights Forum-Nepal headed by Bijaya Gacchedar and Gayatri Shah of Nepali Janata Dal for involving in the passport scandal; he said that he received a letter from the Commission on Investigation into Abuse of Authority (CIAA) stating it has registered a criminal case against the two lawmakers for abusing their special passports they have received as the lawmakers, ‘The Rising Nepal’ of today writes.

CIAA has demanded Rs. 16.2 million and 11 years jail term for each of the two lawmakers for abusing the passports. CIAA has also registered criminal cases against seven others including immigration officials and the chairman of Nepali Janata Dal for involving in abusing the passports of the two lawmakers. Obviously, immigration officials and the politicians have jointly launched a very lucrative passport business sending some others in the passports of lawmakers.
