Introducing High-speed Public Internet Connection

November 16, 2013: the State-owned telecommunication service provider Nepal Telecom (NT) announced the opening of the high-speed public Wi-Fi Internet services at 173 places all over the country within this year, Xinhua quotes the government officials as saying on Tuesday, November 12, 2013
As a trial, the NT has offered free Wi-Fi services at places such as Tribhuwan International Airport, Bir Hospital, Teaching Hospital, Hanuman Dhoka Durbar Square Dabali, Kathmandu Metropolitan City office, Gangalal Hospital, Central Investigation Bureau and the NT office from September this year.
"We have sought government's approval to introduce Wi-Fi tariff, " said spokesperson for the NT Guna Keshari Pradhan, “the new tariff rate will shortly be introduced after the government's go-ahead”, according to Xinhua.
She also has said that the NT has been preparing groundwork such as the installation of hot spots to expand the public Wi-Fi services based on Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access (WiMAX) at 173 places of Nepal.
"We will offer service at these places along with the introduction of the tariff rate," she added. Both pre-paid and post paid mobile phone users can enjoy the service.
