February 9, 2012: despite the public announcement of Pashupati Area Development Trust (PADT) that it would not sell the fast-track tickets to Lord Pashupatinath on the Mahashivatri Day festival to be held on February 20, 2012, PADT has come up with selling fast-track tickets at Rs 1,000 through various banks to the devotees that want to avoid long and arduous lines to reach Lord Pashupatinath on the Mahashivaratri Day. Anybody buying the fast-track ticket could go straight to Lord Pashupatinath and make offerings without any delay.
“Devotees can buy such fast-track tickets from Investment Bank, NCC Bank, Everest Bank and others,” one of the members of PADT board of directors said, “We have printed about 3,000 to 4,000 tickets for those who are in a hurry or an emergency.” “They can get these tickets through banks paying Rs. 1,000 per ticket; such tickets also will be available at the PADT office and several points on the premises of the temple on the Mahashivaratri Day, ‘The Rising Nepal’ of today quotes the member of PADT.
The estimated budget for managing the Mahashivaratri Day is about Rs 6 millions. PADT can make Rs 3 millions from selling the fast-track tickets; the balance amount will be met by the donations received from devotees. Maintaining security at the area will consume the major portion of the budget. About 6,500 police security personnel will be on duty to provide devotees with security.
