On September 15, 2009, President Dr .Ram Baran Yadav has inaugurated the International Conference on Community Forest in Pokhara. In his speech, the President has expressed his concern for the deforestation that has adversely affected the environment. Eighty-three representatives from thirty-two countries have been participating in this conference.
The security has taken a strongest possible security measure causing inconvenience to the commuters in Pokhara during the President’s visit. The security has even stopped private cars from running on the streets. This has been done in view of the Maoist cadres protesting against the President for his unconstitutional move.
The state-run newspaper ‘Gorkhapatra’ of September 16, 2009, has printed the black and white photo of the President lighting a traditional Nepalese lamp for opening the International Conference on Community Forest on the inside page whereas the colored photo of the Prime Minister participating in International Day Of Democracy on the front page thus giving the President less important than the Prime Minister ignoring the state protocol.
