The Indian Congress (I) party sent a five-member delegation headed by former Chief Minister Digvijay Singh to Nepal on Tuesday, February 12, 2008. The delegation met with the leaders of political parties such as Nepali Congress, CPN-UML, CPN-Maoist, Rastriya Prajatantra Party, and the leaders of the newly formed Madheshi party. During the meeting with the Nepalese leaders the Indian delegation made it clear that whatever would be the verdict of the Nepalese people on the monarchy would be acceptable to the Indian Congress (I), and the delegation is not here to save the monarchy from extinction.
