Migrant Workers Lining Up At Gaddachauki For Going To India

December 2, 2013: A large number of Nepalese workers from the far western Nepal are leaving for India after sowing wheat and voting on November 19. The number of people leaving for India in search of work through the Gadda Chauki transit point on the western border of the country has been increasing every day, according to the news on ‘gorkhapatraonline.com’.
Sub Inspector at the Ilaka Police Office at Gadda Chauki Dharmaraj Awasthi said that eight hundred to a thousand people are leaving the country through this checkpoint daily. He said 11 thousand people have left for India via this transit point since the completion of the Constituent Assembly election.
Most of those leaving the country are seasonal migrant workers from Dadeldhura, Baitadi, Doti, Bajura, Achham, Bajhang, Kailali and Kanchanpur districts of the Far-west development region and Kalikot, Banke, Bardiya, Jumla, Humla, Mugu, Dolpa and other hill districts of the Mid-west development region, according to the RSS news on ‘gorkhapatraonline.com’.
