Issue 39, September 25, 2011

By KTM Metro Reporter

September 24, 2011: representatives of the member parties of the United Democratic Madeshi Front (UDMF) have sat together yesterday to counter the statement of the leaders of NC, CPN-UML and a faction of UCPN-Maoist that has said the four-point deal the UDMF has reached with the UCPN-Maoist is anti-national and harmful to the nation. They have made it clear that the four-point deal with the UCPN-Maoist is not anti-nationalistic rather it is for completing the peace process and the constitution writing.

"The argument that the agreement was anti-nationalist is totally irresponsible because the deal was for peace and constitution," ‘The Rising Nepal’ pf today quotes Health Minister Rajendra Mahato: a member of the UDMF. "We are concerned about such remarks against the Madhesi people’s aspirations," he said.

The UDMF also has warned of leaders making such statements would be responsible for any backlash against them. The UDMF would not tolerate such statements of any leaders.

Speaking at an interaction event held by the civil society on the ‘Four Point Deal and Nationality’, Secretary to UCPN-Maoist CP Gajurel said that the four-point deal between Maoists and Madhes-based parties was against nationality and it would take Nepal on the path of colonization, ‘The Rising Nepal’ of today writes.

Speaking at the same event, NC leader Dr. Ram Saran Mahat said that the four-point deal between Maoists and Madhes-based parties had no moral grounds on which to do national politics. "The deal was an opportunistic alliance for government formation," ‘The Rising Nepal’ of to day quotes Dr. Ram Saran Mahat.
