By KTM Metro Reporter in Kathmandu
The Commission On Investigation Into Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has accused Managing Director of Janak Education Materials Center (JEMC) Birendra Kumar Das of misappropriating a huge amount in dealing with the private companies for printing textbooks required for school children in this academic year.
The CIAA has found that the JEMC Managing Director has made up three tenders for bidding the printing of textbooks and paid an advance of Rs 60 millions to the publisher. He has also paid the Indian printing company the price of printing per page higher than the price of printing in Nepal. So, the CIAA has suspended the Managing Director for holding investigation into the corruption case.
The employees of the JEMC have been protesting against the management’s decision on assigning the private companies for printing textbooks, as the printing capacity the JEMC has for printing the required number of school textbooks.
