Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) President’s Statement

Issue 41, October 14, 2007

By KTM Metro Reporter

On Friday, October 05, 2007, the Press Trust of India (PTI) reported that the President of BJP Rajnath Singh in a statement said that the declaration of Nepal a republic by the Interim Legislature of Nepal should not be done under the threat of the street rallies, and technically only the properly elected constituent assembly should make such a decision.

India's Hindu nationalist party, Bharatiya Janata Party has been adopting the policy of non-interference in the internal matters of the neighboring countries in the past. However, the recent statement of its president indicates that the Nepalese king has been successful in his attempt to bribe even the president of such a political party that has been claiming for the power in New Delhi. In order to save the BJP from shame its leaders should take immediate actions against Rajnath Singh for his irresponsible and unwanted statement on the internal matters of the neighboring country.

The king had been attempting to buy the Nepalese political leaders for supporting him. The Nepalese press had recently reported that the king tried to buy the daughter of Interim Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala and some other members of the central working committee of the Nepali Congress for opposing the decision of the party going for an inclusive federal republic.
