Anniversary Of Pushpa Lal

Issue 31, July 31, 2011

By KTM Metro Reporter

July 23, 2011: followers of the principles and ideas of Pushpa Lal have marked the 33rd anniversary of Pushpa Lal: the founding father of communist party and the communist movement in Nepal today. He founded Communist Party of Nepal in 1949.

He was the proponent of the idea of the communists need to jointly work with other political parties and launch a movement against the dictatorial monarchy and then the communists should use the parliament to achieve their goals of taking power. However, both the communist leaders and leaders of other political party particularly the NC have not heeded his idea and went on their own.

Consequently, communist leaders have set up different communist parities diverging from the basic ideas of Pushpa Lal. So, Nepal has so many communist parties.

Then, in 1990, Ganesh Man Singh put the idea of Pushpa Lal in practice and brought all communist parties together under his leadership and led them all to finish off the monarchical system called Panchayat. Ganesh Man Singh became the Supreme Leader.

Again in 2006, all communist parties and Nepali Congress party united to finish off the monarchy, and make the country a republic. Thus, the idea of Pushpa Lal has worked to finish off the dictatorial monarchy, and set up a federal democratic republic of Nepal. Nepalese communists have been using the parliament as a political tool to achieve their goals. Thus, both the ideas of Pusha Lal have been put into practice.
