Nepal-India Tourism Mart In Lumbini

January 15, 2013: Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Post Bahadur Bogati and Indian Ambassador to Nepal Jayant Prasad has jointly opened the two-day Nepal-India Tourism Mart of 2013 in Lumbini today, writes myrepublica.com.
A press statement issued by Indian Embassy in Kathmandu said that the government officials and travel trade entrepreneurs of the two countries are participating in the Mart jointly held by the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Nepal Tourism Board and the Indian Embassy.
The main objective of the event is to promote the Buddhist sites of both the two countries, and to hold the interactions between the tourism entrepreneurs of both countries, and to expand business network, according to the myrepublica.com.
Indian entrepreneurs from Bihar, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh, and Nepalese tourism entrepreneurs from Dhangadi, Nepalgunj, Pokhara, Kathmandu, Chitwan, Lumbini and Bhairahawa are participating in the event.
Inaugurating the two-day event, Nepalese Minister Bogati said, “It is now imperative to promote other Buddhist destinations within the country.”
In his inaugural speech, Indian Ambassador Prasad in turn put emphasis on the need for developing Lumbini applying the modern technology to attract tourists visiting the birthplace of Lord Budhha, and offered the support of the Government of India for the same.
Secretary to the Ministry of Tourism of the Indian State Uttar Pradesh, Manoj Kumar Singh spoke about the initiatives the Uttar Pradesh government took for tourism promotion and offered to promote Lumbini and the Buddhist Circuit setting up information centers at the Buddhist sites of Uttar Pradesh, India, according to ‘HIMALAYAN NEWS SERVICE’ of today.
