By KTM Metro Reporter

December 18, 2012: speaking at the event held to mark the centenary of Dilliraman Regmi in Kathmandu today, Prime Minister Dr Baburam Bhattarai said that elections to the Constituent Assembly (CA) should be ensured before a consensus on a prime minister reached; all parties should focus on holding fresh elections to a new CA in mid-May, 2013, according to the RSS news posted on thehimalayantimes.com. Prime Minister Bhattarai said, "Let's begin talks on holding fair, impartial and independent CA elections as early as possible. But, an irrelevant discussion is continuing on the next prime minister prior to the elections. This has pushed the country towards a critical situation."

Today, President Dr. Ram Baran Yadav extended the deadline for finding out a consensus candidate for a new prime minister for another five days after the top leaders of four major political parties urged President Dr. Yadav to extend the deadline once again.

Speaking to the reporters in Pokhara after opening the convention of the party's Tamuwan State Committee today, chairman of CPN-Maoist Mohan Vaidhya said his party would not accept president of NC Sushil Koirala as the Prime Minister of a consensus government. Vaidhya said his party was not sure that the NC would hold elections to a CA; so, his party would not accept Koirala as a next prime minister, according to nepalnews.com.

CPN-UML leader Bhim Rawal said President Ram Baran Yadav should form a national unity government by ousting the Maoist-Madhesi caretaker government. “The President should remove the current government and form national unity government," he said while speaking to reporters in Dhangadhi today, according to nepalnews.com.
