By KTM Metro Reporter

June 28, 2010: In a communiqué issued on June 26, 2010 at the end of the G8 summit in Muskoka, Canada, the leaders sent strong messages to Iran and North Korea and condemned North Korea for its recent attack on a South Korean warship that killed 46 sailors.

The G8 leaders also expressed concern about Iran's lack of transparency on its nuclear program and support for the recent United Nations Security Council sanctions against Iran. At the same time, it held out an olive branch to Tehran stating "Our goal is to persuade Iran's leaders to engage in a transparent dialogue about its nuclear activities and to meet Iran's international obligations," according to ‘The Oval: Top Stories and Community Feed’ of Jun 26, 2010. The G8 also repeated its call for Iran's leaders to respect freedom of expression and the rule of law. The G8 nations include the United States, Britain, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Canada and Russia.
