Issue 16, April 21, 2013

By KTM Metro Reporter

April 19, 2013: in response to the letters sent by the three-member ministerial consultation and coordination committee headed by the Home Minister, Madheshi People’s Rights Forum-Nepal of Upendra Yadav is holding talks with the members of the committee at 4:00 pm on Saturday, April 20, 2013; the Federal Socialist Party of Ashok Rai has been discussing the subject among the party members whether to participate in the talks or not, according to ‘gorkhapatra’ of today.

The Forum is concerned with the citizenship, voters’ list, delineation of constituencies, and constitutionality of the IECM. The Forum members are going to raise these issues at the talks with the committee members headed by Home Minister.

The Vaidhya Maoists have not responded to the letter sent by the committee. They have clearly stated in the public speeches: they don’t recognize the current government, and are not going to hold any talks with such an unconstitutional government.

After taking office of the coordinator of the High Level Political Committee, President of NC Sushil Koirala with his deputy Ram Chandra Poudel went to the residence of Chairman of CPN-Maoist Vaidhya, and offered him to be on the High Level Political Committee but Chairman Vaidhya asked the president of NC to tear off the 11-point agreement the four arties had reached, according to ‘gorkhapatra’ of today.

President of NC Sushil Koirala had said that once he became the coordinator of the High Level Political Committee, he would break the syndicate of the four political parties: UCPN-Maoist, NC, CPN-UML, and UDMF. Leaders of all four parties in rotation hold the office of the coordinator of High Level Political Committee for a month.
