Peaceful Election Boycott And Security, Not Voting for Criminals

November 3, 2013: UNDP Nepal Representative Jamie McGoldrick has met with Chairman of CPN-Maoist Mohan Vaidhya and his deputy CP Gajurel at the party office in Kathmandu yesterday, and urged them to be peaceful in boycotting the elections, according to the RSS news posted on the ‘gorkhapatraonline.com’.
Talking to the Rastriya Samachar Samiti (RSS) about the meeting, Vice-Chairman of CPN-Maoist CP Gajurel said that Mr McGoldrick inquired the party about the nature of the election boycott and the party ensured him that it would be peaceful; the Resident Representative said that the political parties should follow the election codes of conduct. "We want you poll-opposing parties to make election boycott peaceful," Vice-Chairman Gajurel quoted Mr McGoldrick.
At the meeting, the CPN-Maoist reiterated its stand on the CA election is postponed and if it were to hold, people and the party would not accept it. The protest would be peaceful but if the government suppressed, it would invite confrontation.
The Resident Representative had drawn the CPN-Maoist's attention to the violent incidents occurred elsewhere in Nepal in the name of the party.
A candidate of Nepal Sadbhavana Party United (Syam Sundar Gupta group) at the Constituency No 2 of Rautahat Sheikh Ishrajul was found dead on his bed at home, according to the RSS news posted on the ‘gorkhapatraonline.com’. According to the family, he was normal and had dinner together last night but was found dead on his bed on the morning of November 2, 2013.
Youth Campaigners urged the voters to vote for the qualified and untainted candidates in the upcoming Constituent Assembly (CA) elections. They urged the voters not to vote for the candidates involved in the human rights violation, corruption and criminal acts according to the RSS news on the ‘gorkhapatraonline.com’.
