Tarai Shutdown

Issue 18, May 03, 2009

By KTM Metro Reporter in Kathmandu

The cadres of the ‘Tharuhut’ have shut down the Tarai area demanding the enforcement of the agreement the government has reached with them for last several days.

People in different parts of the country have been feeling the impact of the shutdown in Tarai. Short supply of essential goods including the fossil fuels has been the order of day. Passengers have been stranded at several places.

The government has said that all agreements have been implemented except for those that need the amendment to the laws. This has not been possible, as the NC parliamentarians have been blocking the parliamentary sessions demanding the retraction of the actions taken against the Chief of Army Staff (CoAS).
