Attempting To Justify Injustices

Issue 29, July 18, 2010

By KTM Metro Reporter

July 13, 2010: emboldened by the Sri Lankan Minister’s aggressive approach to the UN Mission there, officiating Prime Minister Madhav Nepal has warned of the UNMIN of not interfering in the internal business of Nepal. UN has already stated publicly that UNMIN has been working entirely within its mandate. It is no wonder people such as Mr. Nepal and his colleagues in the NC that don’t follow the rule of law see the UNMIN not working to their satisfaction.

Their counterparts in Sri Lanka quote Mr. Nepal’s criticism of the UNMIN to justify their injustices there. The Sri Lankan Government has not rehabilitated thousands if not millions Tamils suspects even after the elimination of their opposition. The innocent Tamils are still in the camps for their no-faults but for simply being Tamils. So, if the Sri Lankan Government wants to do justice to them then the Sri Lankan government needs to rehabilitate them rather than attempting to drive out the International Organization from there.
