Madhav Nepal Nervous Of Sujata’s Remarks

Issue 06, Febraury 7, 2010

By KTM Metro Reporter in Kathmandu

On January 31, 2010, speaking at the meeting of the leaders of 10 coalition partner parties at the state secretariat in Kathmandu, Prime Minister Madhav Nepal has said that Deputy Prime Minister Sujata Koirala’s remarks on the need for thinking about an alternative to the current government and the negative role played by the CPN-UML in the current coalition government have made adverse impact on the public, and would take up the matter in the meeting of High Level Political Mechanism scheduled to be held on Monday, February 1, 2010, and would also discuss the matter with other leaders of the Nepali Congress (NC).

At the same time, other NC leaders such as Acting NC President Sushil Koirala and former Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba have said that the current coalition government would not fall. However, another leader Arjun Narshing KC has said that if the NC needs to lead a new national coalition government it would do so.

It is hard to believe what the current political leaders are saying really holds any truth or not, as Acting NC President Sushil Koirala has once said that he would resigned from the position of his party if Sujata Koirala is made a minister in the coalition government led by Madhav Nepal. However, neither Mr. Koirala has resigned from the position nor he could stop Miss Koirala being a minister later on a deputy prime minister.
