Seven New Faces Join Bhattarai Government

Issue 21, May 20, 2012

By KTM Metro Reporter

May 16, 2012: seven new faces have joined the Bhattarai government making it more inclusive than used to be. General Secretary of CPN-UML Ishwor Pokharel became the fourth deputy prime minister. Other deputy prime ministers are Narayan Kaji Shreshta of UCPN-Maoist, Krishna Prasad Sitaula of NC, Bijaya Gacchedar of MPRF-D. Krishna Prasad Sitaula joined the Bhattarai government only a few days ago.

Other six ministers are Radha Gyawali of CPN-UML, Chandra Dev Joshi of CPN-United, Parshu Ram Khapung of Rastriya Prajatantra Party, Anil Jha of Federal Sadbhawana, Keshav Man Shakya of Nepa Party, and Ek Nath Dhakal of Nepal Family Party.

All of them took the oath of office and secrecy from Prime Minister Dr. Baburam Bhattarai in presence of President Dr. Ram Baran Yadav today.

At the same time, some of the Madheshi ministers are thinking to quit the offices in protest against the three-party deal on 11 provinces without naming them and without delineating their geographical boundaries. They have alleged the leaders of the three parties such as UCPN-Maoist, NC and CPN-UML have over abused their authority by reaching a deal on the 11 provinces.

One of CPN-UML characters KP Oli has said that his party has sent two of its characters to join the Bhattarai government to tear down the government from within. He has predicted that a new unity government will be formed before May 27, 2012.
