August 16, 2010: India has celebrated the 64th Independence Day on August 15, 2010; Indian President Pratibha Devisingh Patil has said that India has been consolidating its economy, political system, business and the education sectors in the changed world context; India has adopted inclusive growth as a pillar of its economic edifice and is pro-actively pursuing it; our task will be complete only when no one sleeps on a hungry stomach, when no one sleeps on the footpath and when every child is in school, ‘The Rising Nepal’ of August 16, 2010 reports.

Even after 64 years of its independence, the so-called largest democracy in the world, India has not been able to alleviate the poverty of millions of its people. According to the recent study, India has 400 million poor people more than the poor in the 26 countries of Africa.
