By KTM Metro Reporter

December 6, 2013: South African anti-apartheid leader Nelson Mandela passed away at his private residence in Johannesburg South Africa yesterday. He was 95. He had been suffering from lungs ailments for some time.

Mandela spent 27 years in jail fighting against the white supremacy. He walked to the freedom in 990. He successfully managed the reconciliation between the whites and the blacks, and crafted a new constitution satisfying both the whites and the blacks. Then, he became the first black president of South Africa in 1994, and institutionalized the achievement made by his party and men.

After the first term of office, he left the presidency in 1999, and remained in retirement for the rest of his life. He set the example of how a real leader should be. He sacrificed everything for the country, and for the cause of the majority of the people. His contribution to and skill in keeping the blacks and whites together was the great and marvelous. He would remain one of the greatest leaders of the 20th century.
