Promulgating A Constitution By Mid April 2011

July 6, 2010: three large parties such as UCPN-Maoist, NC and CPN-UML have agreed on setting the calendar of operation of completing the writing of a new constitution so that the Constitution Assembly (CA) can promulgate a constitution by mid April 2011 according to the Chairman of the CA. They also have agreed on setting up a State Restructuring Commission by July 17, 2010.
The Interim Constitution of Nepal of 2007 has made the provision for promulgating a new constitution by the CA on May 28, 2010 but the CA missed the date for promulgating a new constitution due to the political deadlock brought by the President not following the rule of law subsequently making the man defeated in two constituencies a Prime Minister.
