India And Nepal To Hold Ministerial Meeting On Water Resources And Energy

February 10, 2012: speaking at a function held in Kathmandu today to launch a documentary highlighting Nepal-India relation, historic ties and India’s assistance to Nepal in economic development, health and education sectors, Indian Ambassador to Nepal Mr. Jayant Prasad has said that bilateral relations between the two countries have been progressing smoothly on various fronts according to the news posted on the newsonair.nic.in.

Ambassador Prasad has said that the first ministerial level meeting between Nepal and India on water resources and energy is going to be held in New Delhi on February 15, 2012. India and Nepal have agreed to carry out a joint-feasibility study on the Sapta Koshi multi-purpose project in Nepal. It will be completed in 2013. The project will provide irrigation facilities, flood control system, power generation of 3000 megawatts, and a 269-meter waterway.

The Indian ambassador has explained that India has been taking steps to supply power to Nepal at the shortest possible time while the World Bank project to upgrade the transmission lines from Muzaffarpur -Dhalkebar takes time to complete.

Ambassador Prasad also has said that the peace process and the constitution drafting will be completed as scheduled and the Constituent Assembly is the bedrock of multi party democracy.
