Draft Reports On Constitutional Subject Matters Completed

January 22, 2010: Constituent Assembly (CA) has the concept papers and preliminary draft reports on all the subject matters concerning a new constitution, Committees on various subject matters have submitted to the CA for debate. After receiving the last draft report on the state structure from the concerned committee, CA Chairman Nemwang has said that a historic task has been completed.

The CA has completed debate on the concept papers and drafts nine committees have submitted to it in the past. Starting on Sunday, January 24, 2010, CA members will debate the governance system and then on the state structure. A new constitution has almost come to completion.

Some legislators have registered their dissent note on the state structure means the fourteen states the Committee has proposed, and Madhesi People’s Rights Forum has even announced its protest against the proposal for the fourteen states and would launch a movement against it.
